Rise of Olympus Origins pays when 3 or more of a symbol line up in a row or a column of its 5 by 5 grid. The gods step in when their own portraits win, Hades to swap symbols, Poseidon to add wilds and Zeus to clear whole sets away. Play'n GO lets a single win reach 20,000x the stake.

The grid

Now, the grid is 5 by 5, and every row and every column is live. 3 or more of the same symbol in a straight line make a win, and a single symbol can belong to more than one win. The symbols in a win are cleared and the rest drop down. Each win can set up the next.

The relics are the lower symbols, a horned helmet on red, a trident on green and a lightning bolt on blue. When a win of 3, 4 or 5 relics clears, a wild appears in the middle of the gap it leaves. A wild stays with you until nothing else is left on the grid.

By Play’n GO’s own figure, 46.08% of spins on the 96.29% version pay something. It’s a lot of small returns for a game the studio rates 8 out of 10 for volatility. The bigger amounts wait in the free spins chests.

The Hand of God

Play’n GO tells the story from the start, as the subtitle promises. Before Olympus came the Titans, and Zeus and his siblings Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter and Hestia overthrew their father Cronus to take power. Only the 3 brothers made it onto the reels.

The intro screen stands them on a floating purple rock. Zeus is in the middle with his arms folded, white-haired under a gold laurel, in a white robe and gold greaves. Poseidon carries a gold trident, his long brown hair under a crown of gold spikes. Hades waits in a dark hood with a red-lined cape and a staff that glows at the tip. On the reels each god has a portrait tile, Zeus on blue, Poseidon on green and Hades on red.

The gods do more than pose. When 3 portraits of one god win together, his power has a 50% chance to fire, 75% with 4 and 100% with 5. Hades turns every copy of one symbol into the next better-paying one, Poseidon conjures 1 or 2 wilds, and Zeus blasts 2 whole sets of symbols off the grid. A second win by the same god in a round makes his next power certain.

Relic wins longer than 5 charge the god whose emblem they carry, and a charged god works harder. Play’n GO’s notes on the art say the gods appear beside the grid whenever they use their powers.

Rise of Olympus 100 gives the brothers the same 3 powers on the same 5 by 5 grid, but there a god steps in on a spin that doesn’t pay. Here a god acts when his own portraits win. Its figures are 96.20% and a 15,000x cap, against 96.29% and 20,000x for Origins.

The free spins

Wins that mix all 3 gods charge a round meter of 6 sections beside the grid, and a wild can stand in for 1 of the gods. A full meter brings the Wrath of Olympus, a single respin in which each god uses his power once, Hades first and Zeus last. Fresh god wins can fire extra powers during it.

Clear every symbol off the grid, wilds aside, and you get 10 free spins. You can do it in the base game or in the Wrath respin. All 3 powers stay active through the round, and filling the meter there adds spins.

Now, the chests are where the round climbs. Each time you clear the grid again inside the free spins, a chest opens, up to 3 times. The first is Hades’s chest with 5x to 150x the stake, the second Poseidon’s with 75x to 1,000x and the third Zeus’s with 1,000x to 10,000x. On a $1 stake the Zeus chest is worth $1,000 to $10,000.

The intro screen shows the chest as a blue and gold box with 2 gold winged horses on its lid. The Origins rules sheet offers neither a bought bonus nor an ante, so you can’t skip the clearing. Every round has to be earned.

The numbers

Play’n GO publishes 5 returns for Origins. The default is 96.29%, and the others are 94.29%, 91.25%, 87.29% and 84.29%. Check the percentage in the game’s rules before you play.

Play’n GO puts the volatility at 8 out of 10 and labels it high. You can stake between $0.10 and $100 on Origins, which puts the 20,000x cap between $2,000 and $2,000,000. A cap marks the edge of the game. It isn’t a target.

Play’n GO dates the game 25 July 2024. Every figure here was read on 30 September 2026, from the Origins page and a rules sheet that carries the date 31 October 2025.

The regular’s machine

Some regulars played one machine and nothing else. After enough nights on the same stool they were sure it “owed” them, and a stranger in their seat looked like a thief. I once watched a man spend his whole break standing beside his usual machine so nobody could sit down. The machine couldn’t tell him from anyone else.

Play’n GO’s notes call Hades a just god who treats all as they deserve. The game is stricter than that. Every player on the same version meets the same percentage, newcomer or regular. Loyalty earns you nothing on the reels.

The score

Score: 8.0 out of 10. A god whose own win can rebuild the grid is doing real work, and that earns half a point. Chests that climb from Hades to Zeus and spins added by the meter give the free spins another half. The 20,000x cap brings the last half. The 96.29% leaves the score where it is, and the 5 versions take nothing off.
