Grid Slot Olympus Games

A grid slot pays for 3 or more matching symbols in a row, across or down a 5 by 5 square. In Rise of Olympus a cleared square opens the free spins.

The square

A grid slot drops its symbols into a square rather than spinning them on reels. Play’n GO files its Rise of Olympus games as grid slots in its own records, and each one fills a 5 by 5 square. A win takes 3 matching symbols or more, lined up across or down. All 5 rows and all 5 columns are live, and one symbol can belong to 2 wins at once. Play’n GO’s rules describe a cascading game.

Lines that win leave the square, the symbols above drop down, and new ones fall in from the top. The fresh square is checked again, the way any tumble works. The difference is the goal. On this grid you’re working towards an empty square, and every game on it puts free spins or a prize behind that moment. A clear grid is the target.

The brothers

Now, the 3 gods do real work here. In most of these games a spin that pays nothing can bring the Hand of God. Hades recasts a whole set of symbols as another, Poseidon sets down 1 or 2 wilds, and Zeus strikes 2 sets from the grid. Any of those can start a fresh win, and a fresh win means another drop. In the first Rise of Olympus the power that fires belongs to the active god, the one shown on the right-hand side of the screen. Play’n GO’s own picture of it puts Hades there, hooded and armoured in front of red volcanic hills. The god on show is the god at work.

The gods fill a meter as well. God symbols in winning lines charge it. Once it’s full, the Wrath of Olympus follows, and the 3 brothers take their turns one after another. In the free spins of the first game, Rise of Olympus 100 and Extreme, you choose one god to stay with you. Each god sets the opening count, from 4 spins with Hades up to 8 with Zeus, and Poseidon sits between them on 5. The chosen power fires on every spin that misses. These are gods with jobs.

The four squares

The square stays the same from game to game, and the numbers move. Rise of Olympus, the 2018 game, lists 96.50% as its highest version, rates its volatility 6 out of 10 and caps a win at 5,000x. Its multiplier climbs with each drop and stops at 20x in the free spins, where an empty grid pays 100x the stake. Rise of Olympus 100 takes that multiplier to 100x and its cap to 15,000x, with 96.20% at the top and a volatility of 8 out of 10.

Rise of Olympus Extreme lets its multiplier run to 1,000x in the free spins and caps a win at 50,000x, with the top volatility mark of 10 out of 10. Rise of Olympus Origins has no climbing multiplier at all. A full meter there earns a respin with all 3 powers, and each fresh clear during its free spins pays from a prize chest, as many as 3 times. Zeus guards the richest one, worth 1,000x to 10,000x. Origins tops out at 96.29% and 20,000x.

The other grids

Some Olympus games use a grid without this rule. Fortune of Olympus and Power of Olympus lay out 7 by 7 grids and pay for clusters of touching symbols, not for lines of 3. Rise of Olympus 1000 left the square for 6 columns and pays anywhere. On this site a grid slot means the Rise of Olympus square.

The versions

Mind you, the square doesn’t tell you which version is running. Play’n GO’s rules sheets list 5 for each of these games, and the lowest ones sit between 84.20% and 84.50%. How the Reviews Work explains why this site lists them all and can’t see which one a casino loads. The rules inside the game you open will show it.
