The family and the rest

9 of the 12 belong to the Gates of Olympus series, which Gates of Olympus began on 24 February 2021. Forge of Olympus, Olympus Wins and Fortune of Olympus carry Olympus in the name without the gates.

Inside the family the grid changes less than the numbers do. Gates of Olympus 1000 keeps the 6 by 5 grid and lifts the multipliers from 500x to 1,000x and the biggest win from 5,000x to 15,000x. Super Scatter adds scatters that pay instant prizes, and Gates of Olympus 2500 turns a wheel before its bonus to choose between 4 rounds. POP cuts the screen down to 3 reels of 5 and adds 3 jackpots, and Pachi plays on 3 by 3 with respins.

3 more are the same game in different clothes. Gates of Olympus Dice plays by the rules of the first game with dice in place of the gems and crowns. Xmas 1000 and 1000 Dice do the same for the 1000, one in a Santa hat and one with dice. You get a new coat, not a new game.

The Zeus look

Pragmatic Play paints Olympus as a palace in the clouds, with a sky that runs from pink to violet. Marble columns with fire in bowls on top stand at the edges, and a heavy gold frame holds the grid. Zeus stands beside it with a white beard, a laurel wreath and gold armour, a bolt of lightning in one fist. Gems, crowns, rings and an hourglass fill the reels. His own face is the scatter.

The spin-offs change his costume. Xmas 1000 puts him in a Santa hat and a red robe trimmed with white fur. POP and Olympus Wins draw a cartoon Zeus with a round face and a wide smile. In Fortune of Olympus he sits on a gold throne in a pink marble hall, and gold coins pile up below the grid. It’s Zeus in every case.

Forge of Olympus is the one game of the 12 that leaves him out of the picture. A bearded smith with lava glowing through cracks in his skin works at an anvil, and the multipliers land as hammers. Pragmatic Play’s page mentions a Titan and gives the smith no name.

The god at work

The launch news for the first game and for the 1000 gives Zeus a job. He strikes with his bolt, and a multiplier lands on the grid, up to 500x in the first game and 1,000x in the 1000. In my book that’s the best use of a god on a slot. A god with a job earns the screen.

On the slot floor a new top glass with a face the regulars knew drew a queue on its first night. Zeus is the reason you’ll know these games across a lobby.

The printed figures

Pragmatic Play prints the RTP in 2 places, on the game’s page under Basic Game Info and in the rules inside the free demo. It publishes one figure per game and no lower versions. For 7 of the 12 games the 2 places agree, from 96.25% on Forge of Olympus to 96.55% on Fortune of Olympus.

The other 5 need a closer look. POP prints 96.54% on its page and 97.05% in its demo rules, and 2500 prints 96.51% against 96.52%. The page for Super Scatter leaves its RTP field empty. Pachi and 1000 Dice have no page at Pragmatic Play at all, and their demos print 96.04% and 96.50%. Page and demo are the only 2 sources How the Reviews Work accepts for an RTP. The demo you open shows its own figure.

Now, the bought rounds carry figures of their own. The 1000 and Xmas 1000 print 96.49% for theirs, and the 200x start of Forge of Olympus prints 96.70%, above the game’s own 96.25%. Read the figure next to the price you pay.

The volatility words

Pragmatic Play rates volatility in 3 words on a badge on the demo’s intro screen. POP and Olympus Wins carry low, and the first game, Super Scatter, Dice and Fortune carry medium. The other 6 carry high, the top of the scale. The biggest wins run from 5,000x on the first game to 100,000x on Olympus Wins, paid for 4 super scatters at once. Stakes run from $0.20 to $240 on 10 of the 12 games, and from $0.10 to $250 on POP and Pachi.

The first stop

Start with Gates of Olympus. Every later game in the family changes one part of it, and you’ll spot the change faster once you know the part.
